Coffee Pod Cost Calculator
Pod coffee is fast and convenient, but the per-cup cost adds up faster than most people expect. This calculator gives you a clear annual number so you can compare pod brewing against other options or just budget more accurately.
To use it, enter two numbers: how many pods you go through in a typical day, and the price you pay per pod. The tool multiplies those figures across 365 days to show your estimated yearly spend. If your pod price varies by brand or pack size, use the price you actually pay most often.
The result is an estimate based entirely on what you enter. It does not include the cost of the machine, electricity, or any subscription fees. Use it as a starting point when weighing the real cost of single-serve brewing against ground coffee or other methods.
How the math works
Yearly cost = pods per day x 365 days x price per pod

Frequently asked questions
How do I find the price per pod?
Divide the pack price by the number of pods in the box. For example, a 48-count box for $31.20 works out to $0.65 per pod. Store-brand pods are often $0.35 to $0.50; name-brand or specialty pods can run $0.90 to $1.50 or more.
Does the calculator include the cost of the brewer?
No. It only estimates the ongoing cost of the pods themselves. To factor in the machine, divide its purchase price by how many years you expect to use it and add that to your yearly total.
How does pod coffee compare in cost to drip brewing?
Ground coffee typically costs $0.10 to $0.25 per cup when brewed in a standard drip machine. At $0.65 per pod, a daily two-pod habit runs about $475 a year versus roughly $73 to $183 for the same volume of drip coffee.
Can I lower my pod cost without switching brewers?
Yes. Reusable pods that you fill with ground coffee are compatible with most K-Cup machines and bring the per-brew cost closer to drip. Store-brand pods and bulk warehouse packs also cost meaningfully less than buying small boxes of name-brand pods.
Why does my actual spending look different from the estimate?
The calculator uses a fixed daily average. If you skip pods on weekends, brew extra on busy mornings, or mix pod prices across brands, your real total will vary. Adjust the inputs to match your typical pattern for a closer figure.
